Cauldron Awarded $1.76M from the U.S. Department of Defense to Plan U.S. Facility
The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded Cauldron $1.76M to plan a U.S.-based commercial-scale facility.
The award is part of the DoD Distributed Bioindustrial Manufacturing Program (DBIMP), which aims to help transition U.S. bioindustrial manufacturing from the laboratory to a network of large-scale production facilities. Investing in modern and expansive domestic infrastructure for bioindustrial manufacturing is vital to delivering biotechnology solutions to the joint services at industrial scale.
The program aims to increase U.S. biomanufacturing capabilities in five critical areas for national security: fabrication, firepower, fitness, food, and fuel.
The Cauldron U.S. facility will use hyper-fermentation to produce precision-fermented products ranging from food proteins to fuels and chemicals at a lower cost than traditional production methods.
